Facilitator: Dave Ottalini
Time Keeper: Deborah Stoll
Recorder: Debra Reed-Gillette
Dave called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm .
Executive Board minutes from December were approved as posted. All members are reminded to CLEARLY write their name on the sign-in sheet for each meeting.
Treasurer: Nancy reported that all of the mini-grants have been paid out and fund raising to date is ahead of proposed dollar amounts. At this time, there is a balance of $28, 849.65 in all accounts as of 12/13/2006 . The Audit committee will be meeting soon to review the books.
Graduation Venue: Dr. Weast has disallowed the Jericho City of Praise as the graduation site for 2007 graduation. We are appealing to the Board of Education. They will meet on this in closed session and it will probably be very close. Mr. Gainous has negotiated a later date for Josten’s of 1/29/2007 so it will need to be resolved by then.
By-Laws Committee sought: The PTSA By-laws will expire in March 2007. Committee volunteers to review and revise the by-laws are being sought. Please contact Deborah, Dave, or Nancy if you are interested.
Painless Fundraising: The Shop to Care program is expected to bring in $2000. Carol is reminding all shoppers to bring in their receipts to be tallied and submitted for Wheaton and Montgomery Malls.
Grading and Reporting: Deborah reported that Carole Blum of the High School Curriculum office was contacted concerning the Physics exam confusion. She is waiting to see to whom we should direct our concerns and complaints.
Pedestrian Safety: Sam Stokes reported that the new drop off site was approved for the beginning of the 3 rd marking period. Signage for the school is still an issue. Dave did a walk around with Nancy Florene and Valerie Ervin.
Beautification: A meeting is being held with Mr. Funk concerning Blair Beautification. It is hoped that we can coordinate with the Environmental Sciences classes and teachers for a Wetlands project. Please provide Charlie Garlow with input for improvements to the Blair plantings and possible beautification projects: 301.593.9823 or Garlow.Charlie@epa.gov . You can also contact him to volunteer your time.
After Prom: Due to the issue with gift-wrapping at Borders, the After Prom committee will be looking at some large fundraisers for the spring. They want to do a plant sale. You will be able to purchase plants for your home use as well as donate purchased plants to the Blair Beautification Committee.
